Reminder: Live In The Moment

Hello! Today I will be sharing something a little different: a personal narrative. I wrote this for school and I thought that it could be interesting or beneficial for you all, so I hope you enjoy! ♥

How I Learned To Not Take Life For Granted

Within the time that it takes for you to read this, a part of your life will be gone. You can never get that part of your life back. That’s what I have tried to remind myself about, countless times. I use to just go through life and not really appreciate the time I have and the memories that I have made. Now, that has changed. I try to live a life with this idea in mind- not to take life for granted and to focus on making and living through new memories.
About two years ago, my family and I had moved to where we are now. It honestly was a pretty hard transition going from a small town where I had lived all of my life and then moving to a bigger city and not knowing anyone or anything about how it was going to be different. Thinking back now to how my life was, I often can’t remember many things that had happened when we lived there and the things I do remember, I often have forgotten about. Even now, I tend to forget many things that have even recently happened and I wish that I would have just paid more attention to what was happening and had cherished those memories more, as I was living through them. Many moments and events in my life are often forgotten about or taken for granted because of the fact that I don’t cherish them as much as I would like to.
My experience has made me realize what I have-time that needs to be spent well and opportunities to make some great memories. I now increasingly remind myself to cherish the moments in life and the time that I have to do it-even the little ones. Time goes fast and you can’t get it back so I now choose to focus on cherishing the moments that I have been given.
I have learned to not take life for granted and to focus on making and living through new memories small and big, today and the coming days. My experience has opened my eyes and taught me a very valuable lesson that I will hopefully put to use for the rest of my life. Every moment counts and I now choose to pay attention to them.
