Last year was the first year I created an inspiration board for the year ahead, and I decided to do the same this year. Creating these boards gives me inspiration and encouragement throughout the year as I focus on what's important to me.
2023 will be a year with a lot of change ahead and I want to enter into this
season with the right mindset. I can easily focus on the negatives when it
comes to changes in my life but I want to embrace the changes and view them
for what they are: parts of life that are all working together for good and
His glory. That is one of my goals for the year and is why "embrace change"
is highlighted on my board.
The passage of scripture that I wanted to focus on this year is Isaiah
40:28-31 (NIV):
"Do you not know?
Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31 but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
This passage is a reminder that He is in
charge of everything that will happen this
year and that He is the ultimate provider of
everything for those who love Him. No matter
what I walk through this year (good or not so
good) I can hold onto the hope that is found
in Him alone that will never be taken from
me.
Another goal that I have for this year (and
every year for that matter) is to love God and
others well. This means focusing on my
priorities and why I am here on the earth,
investing in others intentionally, and always
prioritizing my relationship with Him on a
daily basis.
This year I chose two words to remember throughout the year which are
passion and purpose. When I think of passion it reminds me of the gifts
that God has given me to steward well and it encourages me to view them
that way. It also encourages me to do things wholeheartedly instead of
halfheartedly as having passion behind what you do does make a
difference.
I chose purpose as a reminder of what He has tasked me with doing and
that my purpose cannot be changed no matter what is going on around me. I
can be confident because my identity is rooted in Him and I want to make
decisions with my ultimate purpose in mind: love God through a life of
worship and love others by pointing them to Him.
I also included "please God, not people". I can easily fall into the trap
of caring about what others think more than I should so this year I want
to be more aware of that habit of mine and work to improve it.
The other quote that I have included is "until God opens the next door,
praise Him in the hallway". As I've mentioned, I'm expecting this year to
include many changes but most of this year is unknown and I don't quite
know what each new day will hold. However, I know who holds the day in His
hand so I can always praise Him no matter whether I'm in the next thing or
patiently waiting.
Lastly, all of the pictures that I have included in my inspiration board
are meant to remind me to stop and smell the roses (so to speak). I want
to appreciate the simple and beautiful things in life and I also want to
go after a slower and more intentional lifestyle with my time,
relationships, and even belongings. The pictures also have frames that
mimic film photographs which encourages me to continue my hobby of
photography. Seeing these pictures are an encouragement to me and they
showcase things that bring a smile to my face.
I see this inspiration board on a daily basis on my laptop and phone and
it serves a meaningful purpose as well as brings my days a few more
moments of joy. I am excited to see what this new year has in store.

What is something on your mind that you are walking into the new year
with?
